Scholarships and Statistics

Dear Friends of The Mama Ada Foundation,

Recently, I have reflected on our past year. Changes have come so fast to our world, in many ways and places, and in our own personal lives too. Sometimes it seems the only constant is change.

And in the midst of all this change, some things stay the same too. Young people the world over desire to go to school, often without the opportunity to do so. A UNICEF statistic reminds us of this stark fact: in Kenya in 2020, only 53% of young people were in secondary school (high school).

To our thinking, this number isn’t high enough. To our thinking, it is a really good thing to provide scholarships that enable more young people to be in school. And we are thankful when people such as yourselves make a donation….saying that you want to make a different statistic possible.

We are thrilled to announce that our organization recently distributed 261 scholarships to young people, up from 205 scholarships in 2022. So as we look at this photo of a father bringing his son to school a few weeks ago (the Kenyan school year starts in January) - we say thank you, thank you, thank you, friends!

And happy new year!
